How does fiber from whole grain aid in heart disease prevention and management?

Fiber, especially soluble fiber, can lower LDL cholesterol and blood sugar. Soluble fiber can dissolve in water and forms a gel around cholesterol in the gut helping remove it from the body with waste. Fiber also slows down the digestion of sugar therefore better controlling blood sugars and weight by increasing satiety and fullness after meals. Whole grains are a great source of fiber.
